Kiwanis International vice presidential candidate, Gary Levine, topped the polls on the first ballot during last year’s Las Vegas convention. In the subsequent run-off, Gary lost by only 3 votes to Art Riley from the Capital District. Gary has decided to let his name stand for election this coming June during our Orlando convention. We want to encourage all clubs to endeavor to send delegates to Orlando for the June 29–29 convention.
In Stratford, we must endorse Gary’s candidacy to help ensure a successful election bid.
In the words of our Past International President, Dr. John Button:
I have known Gary for 20 years. He is a master communicator and he is the epitome of integrity. He is a “straight shooter.” With Gary, there are no games. He speaks his mind and what is on his mind is what he believes to be the right thing not the popular thing. Gary believes in straight talk. He is not afraid to take an unpopular position if he believes it to be the right position.
Gary does not pretend to know everything. He asks questions and he listens.
Last year, he was chair of the Kiwanis International Membership Committee. He has led that committee by example. He believes that talk is cheap while action is not. He has had remarkable success recruiting new members and opening new clubs across the Kiwanis world all the while exuding a quiet humility.
He is creative and innovative. As well, he has extensive experience in municipal governance.
And, he is fun.
Gary has the attributes and skill sets that Kiwanis needs to face down the challenges that currently confront us and turn them into opportunities. He is a servant leader. Where he leads, I will follow.– John Button
